After School Area (adjacent to the Preschool location)

Decatur, GA 30030

Camp Ages: 

Pre-K through Fifth Grade, your child's birthday must fall between 9/1/2009 and 9/1/2015.

If there are cooking demonstrations and food-based activities, campers get the opportunity to sample what has been prepared! Tasting the samples is always optional.

Camp Includes:

  • Two healthy snacks will be provided (9:30 am and 3:00 pm)
  • Any field trip admissions and/or guest speaker fees

Please Supply:

  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Reusable water bottle (labeled with your child's name)
  • Large, healthy non-refrigerated lunch (SoulShine is a nut-free facility)

Camp Times:

Drop-Off: 7:30 am to 9:30 am
Camp Day: 9:30 am to 4:00 pm
Pick Up: 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm
After Hours Care: 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm*

*After-hours care available at an additional charge.

Look and Listen

Draw inspiration from the first Permaculture principle of "Observe and Interact". Learn the importance of thoughtful actions and intentions. Explore local woodlands and take our time in engaging with nature and fellow campers.

Catch and Store Energy

Focus on what it means to save energy and our natural resources - the foundation of the second Permaculture principle. We will also explore reducing waste and alternative forms of energy. Visits to a local farm and nature preserve.

Summer's Harvests

The Permaculture principle "Obtain a Yield" will inspire campers to learn about what it means to have food that is local and seasonal. Visits to a local food forest that serves our community and to walking trails around Arabia Mountain.

Difference is Beautiful

An exploration into our individuality. We will emphasize the importance of diversity in our lives: from what we eat to where we are. We will be visiting a local farm that is unique in how it started and diverse in what it grows. Enjoy a nature adventure to a local nature preserve.

Reflections

We'll revisit what we've learned during the summer and enjoy outdoor play and activities  to the fullest. Visits to a much-loved goat farm and a nature adventure at a local lake.  This promises to wrap up a fine summer on a cool and sweet note. This is a 3-day camp week.

Enrollment Minimum:

We require a minimum of ten confirmed campers by the registration deadline – per camp day – for the camp to take place. You will be notified as quickly as possible if any camp days are being cancelled.

Cancellation Policy

Please note the cancellation date and penalties on the individual camp listing.
If you cancel enrollment after the published deadline, the $50 deposit will not be refunded.
